Mary Seacole Trust Chair Trevor Sterling has announced three new appointments in the Trust’s leadership.
Lisa Rodrigues CBE is standing down as Vice-Chair to become a Life Patron of the Trust. She has been involved with both the Mary Seacole Memorial Statue Appeal and Mary Seacole Trust for over ten years. Following the unveiling of Mary Seacole’s statue she co-founded the Mary Seacole Trust and has guided the trust to establish an enduring legacy for Mary Seacole.
Trevor Sterling said: “We are honoured that Lisa has accepted the status of Life Patron of the Mary Seacole Trust in recognition of her many years contribution, leadership of the Trust as Vice Chair and in acknowledgement of her status as co-founder.”
Lisa Rodrigues said: “It has been a huge honour to be the first vice chair of MST. I’m thrilled to have been asked to continue supporting the Trust as a life patron, and to see the board being strengthened with two excellent new Trustees. Felicia and Sophie will bring energy, attention to detail and focus and help the Trust to continue its vital work promoting Mary Seacole as a role model and inspiration to nurses and others.”
Felicia Kwaku OBE has joined the charity as a Trustee. A nurse for many years, she is currently an Associate Director of Nursing at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Chair of the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Midwifery Officer’s Black and Minority Ethnic Strategic Advisory Group, NHS England.
Trevor Sterling said: “We are absolutely delighted that Felicia has agreed to become a Trustee of the Mary Seacole Trust. Her experience and leadership will undoubtedly enable the Trust to continue to develop its diversity in leadership initiatives and in doing so, continue to establish Mary Seacole’s legacy. “
Sophie Davies joins the charity’s board as a Trustee. Sophie has already played a significant role as secretary to the Trust, creating the framework for many of the charity’s projects.
Trevor Sterling said: “As a lawyer at Moore Barlow, Sophie provides huge analytical and technical ability, we are therefore delighted that she has agreed to become a Trustee of the Mary Seacole Trust.”
