Finance firm pledges support for Mary Seacole statue

Frenkel Topping has become a sponsor of the Mary Seacole statue, now one of London’s most iconic landmarks set in the grounds of St Thomas’ Hospital, opposite the Houses of Parliament on the banks of the Thames.

Frenkel Topping, a company of expert financial advisers who provide financial services within the personal injury space, from expert witness reports to lifelong financial planning pre, at, and post-settlement, will donate to the Mary Seacole Trust, the charity that is responsible for maintaining and promoting the statue since its unveiling in 2016.

The money will help with routine annual maintenance and the development of materials to raise awareness of the statue.

MST Chair Trevor Sterling said: “We are absolutely delighted to have this backing from Frenkel Topping. They have supported us informally in the past, but this closer relationship underlines their commitment to Mary Seacole and the values that she still stands for today.

Mary’s statue is already a major attraction for visitors from all over the world. It is important to ensure that she is never again lost from history.”

As well as contributing to annual maintenance of the statue, the donation from Frenkel Topping will be used to promote the statue through the addition of a QR code and better signage.

Iain Cherry, Director of Business Development at Frenkel Topping, said: “We at Frenkel Topping are honored to be able to support the Mary Seacole Trust in its vital efforts to maintain and promote the statue of such a pioneering figure. Recognising the significance of Mary Seacole and the lasting impact she has made, not only in the field of nursing but also as a powerful symbol of dedication and compassion, mirrors the values we hold dear as a company. Through our sponsorship, we aspire to further cement the legacy of Mary Seacole, ensuring that her story continues to inspire and educate future generations about the strength of character and humanitarianism.”
